Pawleys Island
Located on the southern most tip of the Grand Strand, Pawleys Island is one of the oldest resort areas on the East Coast. The island located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Waccamaw River is just over 3 miles long. Pawleys Island beach and island areas are accessible from the mainland by two bridges, the North Causeway and the South Causeway.
In addition to beautiful beaches, a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, Pawleys Island is known for locally made hammocks, pimento cheese and Pawleys Point which is located at the southern most tip of the island where the two bodies of water merge. Activities include crabbing, shelling, fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking. Pawleys Island also features world-class golf courses, great restaurants and shopping such as the Hammock Shops Village offering small shops under moss filled trees.
One of the most famous legends of Pawleys Island is the ghost of The Gray Man who walks the coastline to warn residents of coming hurricanes.
Beautiful golf course, gated and luxury communities include Willbrook Plantation, Heritage Plantation, The Reserve, Tradition, Ricefields, Allston Plantation Hagley Estates, Assembly Lakes, River Club, Litchfield Country Club, Pawleys Retreat and Pawleys Plantation. Oceanfront & Ocean View communities offering gorgeous homes with beautiful finishes and custom landscaping are Charlestowne Grant, Penninsula @ Inlet Point, Inlet Point South, Birds Nest, N. Litchfield beach, Prince George Ocean and Debordieu Colony.
